Best Cydia Tweaks to Pimp Your Jailbroken iPad 2!

best cydia tweaks 2012Now that you have jailbroken your iDevice and have added additional repos to the stock Cydia sources, now it’s time to tweak your gadget, make it more functional and easier to use as well!

Apple’s iOS 5 has been updated to include more than 200 enhancements, but Apple engineers have not added enhancements that many of us want.  For instance, moving icons one by one can be a pain, but with the Cydia tweak included in the list below, you can select and then move all of them in a single step.

SBSettings

First on my list and one of the most useful tweaks for any iOS device is SBSettings from the Big Boss repo.  SBSettings lets you control all of your settings from the home panel via a short swiping gesture along the clock, which brings down the SBSetting HUD (Heads Up Display) itself. Some of the settings/toggles you can control through SBSettings are airplane mode, bluetooth, brightness, data, processes as well as Wi-Fi, and others you can add or delete using the settings for the app. A neat link is the power toggle which lets me turn off my device without using the physical power switch, saving it from some wear and tear in the long run.

Retina Pad

Next is Retina Pad from myrepospace repo. This tweak does wonders to make apps built for the iPod Touch/iPhone look great on the iPad’s bigger screen. When using these apps on the iPad, you will find a 2X in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and upon touching it, the app will then fill the device’s screen, but the images are pixelated and distorted.  Retina Pad fixes these issues and makes the app look as if it were natively designed for the iPad.

Winterboard and Dreamboard

If you’re bored with the same look of your home screen and want to change the icons as often as you want then Winterboard and Dreamboard are for you. These tweaks allow you to control all the visual aspects of your iDevice to your heart’s content – from changing the icons using themes (Winterboard), to changing the look of the iOS itself (Dreamboard). There are both free and premium (read: paid) themes for these tweaks and can be found in Cydia. Try them out for yourself.

Infinidock

Another great tweak I personally use is from the Infini-series is Infinidock. The tweak’s name says it all: Infinidock allows your dock to hold an infinite number of icons. Plus you can scroll the dock to access all of the icons. A great way to have instant access to the apps you often use.

MultiIconMover

Remember the tweak I mentioned where you select and move the icons in one step? Well that one is called MultiIconMover and is available from Cydia via the Big Boss repo. This one comes in handy when you want to clean up your screens with the icons occupying all available spaces in each panel.  Being slightly obsessive-compulsive, this Cydia tweak works wonders for me.

Having a jailbroken iPad or iPhone is great because you just have to do a little tinkering to make it work and look exactly the way you want it to.  With all the tweaks available from Cydia, I know you will find some that will definitely improve and personalize your iDevice.
